Hey, I am Kat singer of the band Sygkenis.
We are a Montreal based female fronted metal band.
I am currently doing this behind my band mates backs, but I have been dying to get us a keyboardist.
We looked for one back in December but then gave up.
I want to find a really good keyboardist and surprise the guys!
We have a Metal/Gothic/Rock sound. We don't box ourselves in with one genre and like to let ourselves compose whatever feels right. We currently need more atmosphere in our music, that is where we believe a keyboardist would be of great help. Preferably the keyboardist should be well trained or experience and enjoy composing. If you have a wider or stranger range in musical tastes that is great because we honestly have a huuuuuge range between each of us, so it cant be more strange than what we already have mixed.
We have performed at small venues around Montreal such as saphir, lambi, l'inco the way to venues such as le studio, club soda and the medley.
We are almost done recording our first independently recorded demo album.
We have influences from the great female fronted bands such as Nightwish, Epica, Lacuna Coil, Tristania.. to crazy metals bands such as Neuraxis, Dark Tranquillity, Unexpect... and of course we all have at least a little bit of classical influence as well. We all have our own personal tastes of course, like I personally have a thing for The Birthday Massacre, UVERworld, Dargaard and even ABBA lol while the others may not like it at all I may not like the fact that they like Metallica and other bands. We have our difference but that is how we get different elements into our music.
So if you are still interested up till this point excellent we can get a bit more into the experience of the band. (this just saves me from going through the same thing 50 thousand times)
We have been performing for about a year now and we have been together for almost a year and a half.
We performed in the Emergenza Canadian finals back in June, we were one of the top bands in Canada/Montreal this year.
Each of us have different levels of musical experience.
I (vocals) have been involved in music since I was 8 but only been singing for 4 or 5 years. I am currently studying music at Vanier College (classical vocals).
Agustin (lead guitar) has been playing piano since he was 5 years old if I am correct. He has been playing guitar for a few years now.
Angel (guitar) has been playing guitar for a few years as well.
Nikc (bass) has been playing bass a few years and played violin for a couple more years than bass.
Javier (drums) has only been playing drums for a couple of years and guitar for about the same.
