Hey guys, I'm a 22-year-old Concordia student, predominantly a singer but also a guitarist with a bit of shitty mandolin in my repertoire as well. I'm looking for either a band looking for a missing piece or people looking to start up a new band from scratch, it's all good to me, I just really miss playing in a band and want to get something going. To be honest, I have no idea what I want to do in terms of sound, and in that vein, any instrument is welcome - singers, guitars, drums, keys, strings (I would love to find a cellist), horns, whatever. I want this to be as wide-ranging as we want it to be with everyone having an equal say in the music. All I know is I want to be in a band that has a live show to write home about. Anyway, I figured I'd just list some bands I love and that influence me and if someone has similar taste, maybe something can be worked out. Some of these bands would be Cursive, The Hold Steady, The National, Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Hot Chip, Frank Turner, The Constantines, Tim Kasher, Drive-By Truckers, The Gaslight Anthem, Bruce Springsteen, Broken Social Scene, Pavement, Old 97s, Superchunk, Murder By Death, RX Bandits, Titus Andronicus, Ted Leo, Owen Pallet, The Album Leaf, Sunny Day Real Estate, Desaparecidos...there's a whole lot more but I guess that's a decent base. I don't really care about age, but people in their 20s is probably best, though if something meshes and works then it's probably irrelevant. Guys, girls, whatever. Anyway, if this strikes a chord (hah!) with anyone, give me at angryjohnnyandtheradio@hotmail.com shout and we'll see what we can do.
