Counterclock CD Launch - Saturday, January 28, 2006 @ Lion D’Or

review by Sonny Rosati

I always enjoy CD release parties; in my mind they are a lot like weddings. There are plenty of family members, friends, people taking pictures, and if you’re famous (or soon to be), members of the media. Anticipating such a special evening, I put on my blackest jeans, grabbed my camera and headed to the Lion D’Or.

During the break between Sun Riser (the opening band) and Counterclock, a buzz began to grow in the audience. “Ok, I’ll bite”, I thought to myself. But before I could put in my earplugs, the lights came down and the curtains opened to the future of Canadian Music.

Fueled by the emotions of every dreamer who dared a leap of faith, Counterclock consummated the passion of the crowd, igniting a destiny that will blaze for the future to see.

Although we were in a small venue, the show had a huge stadium feel. It reminded me a lot of seeing Living Color at The Concert Hall in Toronto. If anyone is familiar with the legend, it’s true. Living Color rocked so hard that the ceiling began to come down; you could sense that there was nothing that could stop that band. Counterclock gives me this same feeling; nothing can stop them either.

The songs are radio friendly. As a whole the band looks very sexy and the crowd was extremely pleased. From my eyes, the future of Counterclock looks very bright.
