The
much-anticipated release of Foremost’s second CD Overture
was welcomed with a smashing success at La Sala Rosa
last Friday night. Opening band, Bullmoose, rocked the
socks off the crowd for almost an hour with killer tunes
and some awesome covers too.
A
hard act to follow, but with much added anticipation,
Foremost blew the crowd away with their very unique
funky rock sound. This trio has created a style that
is hard to define but definitely has remnants of classic
Canadian guitar and bass lines emanating from bands
such as Blue Rodeo and BNL. These guys also have the
lyrical style of some of Canada’s top contemporary poets
including The Tragically Hip’s Gord Downey and Phil
Hall. This mélange combines to unfold more then simply
a musical act, but an art form in itself.
And
as with all true art, clear definitions are always blurred
and subject to interpretation, so check Foremost out
