Hollow Reign, Jaded, Rebearth @ L'Alizé, Thursday November 20th 2003

review by Lex

Metal with melody, there are no two better words to describe this band. Hollow Reign gave out a commanding performance at their show on November 20th. Lead by the powerful vocals and stage presence of singer Alissa White-Gluz, the band got their audience pumped up and head banging all throughout the night. With solid drummer Tony Irrera, guitarists Joel Ovadia and Daryl Giovanni Brunetti perfectly complimenting each other, Hollow Reign delivered a non-stop “no time to catch your breath” monster sound. New member of Hollow Reign, virtuoso Kris Vasiliauskas displayed perfect synergy with the band, blending his versatile bass sound with their style. He also pleased the crowd with an intricate bass solo, which yours truly personally enjoyed as I have not witnessed one so often these days. Together, they have found their own unique branch off of the massive Montreal metal scene. A mental and physical experience not to be missed!

I also had the pleasure of catching up with MMS’ first reviewed band, Jaded. The boys have been incredibly busy since the last time we’ve seen them. With a new drummer who also plays keyboards on stage and a new demo on its way, be sure to watch for them in the coming year.
