IN THIS LIFE FIRES UP THE FIRST ANNUAL ROCK N' RIGHTS @ CAFE CAMPUS, DECEMBER 11 2004

review by Lex

The packed Cafe Campus crowd easily forgot about the snowy roads and icy weather on December 11th as over four hundred gathered for the first annual Rock N' Rights benefit concert for Amnesty International. This event is a thoughtful initiative from the band In This Life who are avid supporters of the cause.

Opening up for Montreal’s legendary Grimskunk, the band warmly welcomed the crowd with a powerful performance lead by vocalist Alexander Foster. Recently recovering from a throat operation, Alexander only came back proving to be even stronger.

A band that is most definitively musically inclined showed intense synergy on stage as they displayed a delightfully collection of various melodic styles of rock alternative. Background vocalist Isabel Foster carried out symphonic harmonies adding to the solid set of musicians: JF Beaulieu (guitar), Ben Lamelin (bass, back vocals), Maxim Lalanne (drums), and Stephan Lamelin (guitar).

Their sound eminates the highlights of todays top acts such as Evanescence mixing in the incorporation of eclectic sequenced sounds and arrangements.

Alexander took some moments in between sets to deliver the message of hope to the crowd and to spread the warmth of the event. Even with such a big crowd at their hands, they created an great atmosphere of intimacy.

In This Life put out a well delivered show to earn them a cheering wave of applauses all throughout the night. To hear this band is merely not enough, one must fully experience their illuminating live performance. With this much fuel in the engine, they can only expect an even busier year of success in 2005.
