LENNY KRAVITZ

Well the Bell Centre was certainly set up for an intimate night as Sloan opened the evening for "Lenny" with a variety of their once alternative hits.

As expected Lenny Kravitz took to the stage rather late, although that didn't seem to bother the 8 000 fans who anxiously awaited his return after a 10 year absence (not to mention a recent a cancellation last winter). What ensued was definitely out of the ordinary as Kravitz, accompanied by his 7-man band, played the role of the rocker as opposed to the blues man. He set the tone almost immediately as he set the amphitheatre ablaze with his latest track, "Bring It On" off his "It Is Time for a Love Revolution" album. However it was his second track, "Love Revolution" that truly captivated die hard fans as Kravitz jumped from the guitar to the keyboard in a performance that could not be matched throughout the night. Also of notable mention, yet softer, was "Be" where Kravitz and his band brought together the true essence of rock and blues ending the song on the well-known refrain of Pink Floyd's "Another Brick in the Wall".

Despite Kravitz's several attempts to incite audience participation, it proved futile as the audience preferred to simply take in the moment rather than join in. This however did not stop the new age soul singer as he slowed down the pace with hits such as "It AIn't Over 'Till It's Over", "Dancing 'Till Dawn" and "I'll Be Waiting". Kravitz officially ended the night with the expected, yet well received cover of "American Woman" as well as his best hits "Fly Away" and "Are You Gonna Go My Way".
