review by Lex and Valerie
What
a treat it was to see Sam Roberts at Le Maquisart in
Trois Rivieres on February 5th! Sam and the band certainly
rocked the crowd with songs from their first full length
album, We Were Born In A Flame. The venue was small
and intimate, with approximately 250 people attending.
Chances are that you won’t see him a such a small venue
again. Less than a week after this show, Sam Roberts
was nominated for 3 Junos: Album of the Year, Rock Album
of the Year, and Artist of the Year.
Buck 65 kicked off the night with rockin songs from
his Juno-nominated album, Talkin’ Honky Blues. He kept
the audience entertained with his mixture of live spining,
spoken word, and just the right touch of humour. This
album is nominated under the Alternative Album of the
Year category. His album has also been nominated for
Album Design of the Year, designed by JennMcIntyre and
Ingram Barss.
Keep your fingers crossed on April 4th at the Junos,
these guys are going places…
Big thanks to Dave Spencer from Secret Weapon Management
for making this all happen.
