Bored Bass Player
« on: May 23, 2017, 08:59:06 PM »

I've been playing bass for a fairly short time, about 3 years. Started because I was with a band, as singer, and bass was needed, and I had once played guitar. Typical story.
Then the band was no more, but I continued to practice on my own. 3 hours a day typical.
Took out a lifetime membership in Scott's Bass Academy.
My priority has been on groove and sound; --not so much on reading music, or on knowing the fret-board backwards.
My practice repertoire includes songs of Steve Wonder, Led Zep, Jamiroquai, Weather Report, King Crimson, etc.  I'm of the Progressive Rock/Fusion Jazz generation.
Not looking at making money from music; at least not yet; but would like to get together with other musicians at least once a week, for serious music playing, though --not for smoking or time wasting.
Note: I don't speak a word of French. Only English, Spanish, C++ and Fortran...

Finally got some videos of me playing bass.
Uploading them to youtube...

Update: It's only been a month since I uploaded those videos and I'm miles away from that. Timing mistakes was the first thing I noticed and went to work on.  The day those videos were shot, I had only 2 hours in which to get down as many takes of as many songs as I would.  My photographer friend could not offer me any more time.  I'm now in the process of getting the hardware I need to do videos at home.  Have all the items as a wish-list in my Amazon account.  So, in about a month or two I'll start uploading new stuff.
In the meantime, reply below, if you have an idea for something to do.
I don't have a set agenda.  I could join a band.  I could join a single musician.  It could be serious business, with gigs.  It could be jamming for self-amusement.  It could be playing at metro stations.  I don't care what we do, as long as it involves playing music that I like and enjoy to play.
