The Black Community Resource Centre along with the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network will be throwing a live online event this week to recognize Black Quebecers’ musical contributions to Quebec’s musical heritage.
The event, titled Black Music In Quebec, will be tipping its hat to the local jazz artists and gospel choirs of Montreal’s Little Burgundy neighbourhood, steel pan, calypso, soca, and reggae musicians from Montreal’s Caribbean community, African and Haitian influences, and hip hop musicians.
The evening will be hosted by radio presenter Todd Smith and will include performances by West-Can Folk Performing Company, Kim Sherwood and Family, Ranee Lee, Fatima Wilson, Michael Farkas, Kalmunity, and more.
Black Music in Quebec is set to stream on November 28 at 7 p.m. on the Black Community Resource Centre’s Facebook page as well as A Different Tune’s Facebook page.
